Comments/recommendations mock examinations 2015

Paper 1:
  • Look out for coefficients in equations involving calculations.
  • Gas laws: temperature must be in Kelvin!!!! only then do the relationships apply.
  • You need to be able to do some mental maths.
  • In questions involving stoichiometric calculations on e.g concentrations, amounts of product or reactant, if there is no equation than more than likely you will need to write it.
  • Remember some questions are applications, when you identify the idea that is being assessed in the question, systematically recall all you need to know about it and see which one fits the application.

Paper 2:
  • Oxidation and reducing agents: name the whole particle (e.g oxalic acid, manganate) and not just the element in it.
